A Newcastle magistrate has now lifted a suppression order on the man accused of sexually assaulting a school girl at Adamstown Heights last week.
47-year-old Brett Hill allegedly abducted the young child at knife point and assaulted her over the course of 5 hours.
He appeared in Newcastle court via video link this morning, facing multiple counts of aggravated and indecent assault.
Hill’s solicitor argued that the non-publication order should be extended, as his client feared for his safety.
However, the magistrate decided that the man’s identity was a matter of open justice.
The court also heard that DNA evidence has now been recovered.
The matter has been adjourned until mid-August.
