A fire has ripped through The Edwards Bar in Newcastle West in the early hours of Thursday morning, causing extensive damage.
Firefighters were called to the Parry Street venue at around midnight following reports of smoke and fire coming from the building.
Around a dozen fire trucks and up to 55 firefighters attended the scene.
The damage was worse near the Parry Street entrance, with the wall around the King Street side, including the glass windows, remaining intact.
The roof partially collapsed.
Hunter Street was closed off in both directions for several hours.
There were no injuries and the occupants of the premises evacuated themselves before emergency services arrived.
Police said the building sustained “major structural damage” and investigations were continuing.
