Police divers are now searching part of the Hunter River for a firearm they believe was used in a bikie-related shooting back in 2016.
On April 2, paramedics were called to a home at Corlette where they treated a 31-year-old man with gunshot wounds to both thighs.
It’s believed the shooting happened at One Mile, south of Nelson Bay and the gun was then dumped off the Hexham Bridge.
Detectives under Strike Force Raptor say the shooting was part of an internal Nomads dispute.
They’ll search for the weapon this afternoon.
Officers are still urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
