Investigations are underway following a single-vehicle crash in Port Stephens which claimed the life of a 64-year-old man on Wednesday night.
At about 7:35pm a Toyota Hilux was travelling south on Lemon Tree Passage Road, near the Brownes Road intersection, when it left the road and hit a tree.
The driver, and sole occupant of the car died at the scene.
Officers from Port Stephens/Hunter Police District established a crime scene. The cause of the crash will now be investigated.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
