A man and woman have now been charged after an alleged pursuit through several Newcastle suburbs yesterday morning.
The chase began in Hamilton after the Volkswagen reportedly failed to stop, but it was terminated due to safety concerns.
It resumed through Tighes Hill, Mayfield and Mayfield West before they allegedly struck a 62-year-old woman outside her home at Warabrook.
She was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The stolen car crashed at Waratah, with police arresting the pair with the help of the dog squad.
The 30-year-old male driver was charged with numerous traffic offences and assaulting police.
He was formally refused bail and will front Newcastle Local Court next week.
The 22-year-old woman was granted condition bail after being charged with being a passenger in a stolen car.
She’ll also front Newcastle Local Court on January 31.
