A serious crash at Williamtown this afternoon has left one woman in a critical condition.
Just before 2pm, two cars collided head-on along Cabbage Tree Road, leaving both drivers trapped in their vehicles.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene and reportedly airlifted the woman, believed to be in her 60s, to the John Hunter hospital.
Her male passenger and the other male driver were also taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit is now looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Cabbage Tree Road has also been closed, at the time of publication.
