Newcastle council have announced a multi-million dollar spend in a bid to bolster women’s sport.
Tarro Reserve and Johnson Park at Lambton are receiving new amenities buildings with female change rooms and accessible toilets, along with a canteen, referees’ room and storage.
Meanwhile new LED floodlighting will be installed at Pat Jordan Oval at Carrington and Johnson Park.
The changes aim to enable female players to have greater access to sport and recreational facilities with a safer and more welcoming environment.
$3.3 million dollars has been funneled from the state government’s “Level the Playing Field Program” and Newcastle City Council for the upgrades.
