Construction now is underway at Caves Beach as Lake Macquarie Council works on a new amenities block.
The $1.3 million upgrade will include new change rooms, a first aid area and additional storage.
Accessible change rooms are also set to be built, which will include a hoist to allow an easy transition into water wheelchairs.
New footpaths and seating will also be installed surrounding the facility.
Work is on track to be completed by summer time.
Temporary toilets are available on site while construction continues.
