Keolis Downer has announced fresh changes to Newcastle’s bus timetable, following intense public backlash to the network.
The private operator says they’ve taken all community feedback on board, and have now included more direct services in the timetable.
Starting July 29, commuters will have access to more direct services between Warners Bay and Kotara, Belmont and Charlestown and Swansea and the CBD.
School buses will also operate on a different time schedule, however the routes themselves won’t be changing.
Corporate Director Andrew Fletcher says they’re letting people know about the changes well ahead of time.
“The 29th of July is the day the network will finally go live. What we’re doing is giving people about four weeks to study the new timetables and be well informed so they can plan their trips really well.”
While the changes won’t come into effect until the end of the month, every busy stop across the city will be updated with the new timetable from July 16.
