An investigation is underway after a man was assaulted during a home invasion in Cardiff, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Just after 1am, a 77-year-old was woken by the sound of someone knocking on the front door of his home on Penylan Street.
A short time later, three men forced their way into the house and hit the man across the face with a fire-arm.
The trio, who had their faces covered, demanded money before fleeing with the man’s wallet and mobile phone.
A neighbour came to his assistance and contacted police.
The man was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment for head injuries.
Police are urging anyone with more information to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
