The number of COVID-19 cases in the Hunter New England Health District are “stabilising”.
That’s according to the health officials today as the District still records 16 new cases bringing the total to 120 for the current outbreak.
Today:
- 8 in the Maitland LGA, 5 in the Newcastle LGA, 2 in the Lake Macquarie LGA and 1 in the Port Stephens LGA
- 6 infectious while in the community; 4 infectious during their entire period and 2 for part of their infectious period, the remaining cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period, or residents of the aged care facility
- 13 are linked, 3 are under investigation
- 2 are associated with the aged care cluster. Eleven are family or household contacts and linked to previously reported cases and three are still under investigation
Dr David Durrhiem, Public Health Controller says everyone must follow the Public Health Order.
“With 16 new cases of COVID confirmed in the Hunter New England region and at least six of those active while infectious in the community, particularly in the East Maitland area we cannot at this time afford to relax.”
“Stay at home means stay at home.”
“We all need to restrict our movements, we need to actually consider that anybody who we could come into contact with in the community might be infectious with COVID. So lets keep at home and not go out unless we have any symptoms of COVID to get tested or for any urgent means only,” said Dr Durrhiem.
