Police responded to an alleged armed hold-up in Newcastle over the long weekend and believe they have their man.
Officers were called to a convenience store in the city around 8.30pm on Sunday following reports of an incident involving an offensive weapon.
A 28-year-old man was arrested in the vicinity and taken back to Newcastle Police Station where he was formally charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.
He was refused bail and is set to face Newcastle Local Court today.
