A feeble excuse to use the bathroom has not helped a young P plater caught speeding in Williamtown.
At around 10pm on Friday night Police patrolling Cabbage Tree Road detected a Toyota Hilux travelling at speed towards them – their radar clocking it doing 145km per hour in an 80 zone.
The male driver of the car produced a provisional license when pulled over, telling police he was in a hurry to get home and use the bathroom.
But the story didn’t wash with officers, the 17 -year- old had just left a McDonalds less than 4 kms away and had been planning to drop two mates, who were also in the car, off on his way.
He was issued with $2794 fine and 6 demerit points, his license was suspended for 6 months.
His license will be subjected to a demerit points suspension for a further 3 months after the current suspension.
