Canine Parvo Virus confirmed in Thornton

Pet owners across the Hunter are being warned of a recent spike in parvo-virus cases in the region.

Maitland Animal Rehoming Centre says there has been several recent cases confirmed to have come from Don Lawrence soccer field in Thornton

The advice is to monitor your pet for symptoms and take them to a vet if symptoms appear.

Symptoms include

  • Lethargy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Fever or low body temperature

Parvo virus is spread by direct contact with infected dogs and from contaminated surfaces such as food bowls, collars, leads and bedding.
